i would not jailbreak it. i hear people say that they freeze more and have other issue and cannot be fixed. i also do not think that apple will fix your ipod if something is wrong if it jailbroken. you'll also end your warranty i think if your ipod is still under warranty. just leave it as it is. you may end up having to buy another ipod if something goes wrong.

redsn0w and pwnage are both excellent - very easy to use, and honestly, pretty tough to mess up.

Check youtube, search for ipod 2g jailbreak (make sure you also include whatever firmware you're running, beit 2.2.1 or 3.0) - they'll show you step by step how to do it. It's really simple.

There isn't and honestly it's not worth it. There's no way to ensure it won't get messed up. Once you jailbreak you might even want it back the old way. Just stay the apple way

1. Here are the downloads you need:
QuickFreedom - http://tinyurl.com/d2ebqg
Custom 2.2.1 FW - http://tinyurl.com/cqxe3r

2. When your done downloading, open up Quickfreedom and click Jailbreak.
3. On the next screen it will say that you need to find your custom firmware (Custom 221) and install LIBUSB. Browse for your custom FW (Custom 221) and then install LIBUSB. Then click next.
4. Skip the page where it asks about the creating of custom firmware and click next.
5. Now plug in your iTouch and it will ask you to put into DFU mode. To put it into DFU mode, you have to hold the power button (the top button) and the menu botton (the button with the square, aka home button) for 10 seconds then release the top button while still holding the home button until your screen turns white and the Quickfreedom says you have put it into DFU mode. Then click Start Pre-Jailbreak.
6. After all this, go to itunes with your iTouch pluged in and it will show that your itouch has N/A next to everything and asks you to restore it. Click ok and SHIFT+Click the restore button and browse for the Custom 221 file. Then click ok and your iTouch will restored and be made into a custom firmware (jailbreaked) itouch.

That was the hard part now onto the easy part

Before you do ANY of these, go to the appstore and download a free app first. If you dont, then you wont see icons. I recommend downloading Tap Tap cus its the best app thats free (:

1. After your done, turn on your itouch and you will see a program called Cydia. In Cydia, go to Manage, then sources, then click Edit on the top right screen and click Add (on the top left side)
2. When you click add, it shows you http:// and you will add http://cydia.hackulo.us/
3. Then go to Search and search for installous and download that.
4.After that, you will see a Installous icon in your itouch.
5.Go to Installous and search for your the app you want by typing the name in, and when you find it, scroll down and click the version (like there will be version 1.00 then 1.03, obviously you want the updated version) and then you will download. There are many sites like rapidshare, crapscene.org and you just download them. You'll know what to do, if it asks for a match the picture code input then just do it and you will download. After you download the file, go to downloads, and you will see it downloaded. Click it and press install and there you go, you should have your free apps.

but if you want to download free apps on computer, you gotta go to http://appulo.us/appdb/ (when you download make sure you save it to desktop and change the name ex: BIA_v1.0.3.ipa.zip, erase the .zip part, and click on save as ( it should be on bottom, and change it to all files, you dont want to save it as compressed file) that way you dont have to do it the hard way and converting, when you do this, it automatically converts

to make them sync onto touch , go on your touch and go to cydia, , then manage, click sources, click edit in right corner, click add in left corner, then add cydia.hackulo.us

after that go to sections and scroll down to hackulo.us and click it and download mipatch
if you dont do this, your apps wont be verified and they wont sync

you should also download installous, that way if you dont want to dowload on computer you can do it the wifi way

but damn, i hope you choose this as best answer, this took me a long time to type!

but you touch will be slightly slower but not much, you wont notice ti really
