If you jailbreak it and anything goes wrong it voids your warranty and apple will refuse to fix it. If your warranty is over and you jailbreak it and something goes wrong, you can always take it to a local repair shop. There are many local shops opening up that specialize in fixing ipods in most major cities and they are much cheaper than apple. Only jailbreak it after the warranty is up.
