The iPod is a much more reliable and stable gadget than any other music player in the market but there are times too that it acts up due to age, wear and tear or abuse to force an iPod Repair.
See if the problems you face are listed here; you can save a trip to Apple as well as expensive iPod repair charges.
1. Your iPod will not turn on
• First and foremost, make sure the battery is charged before you send for iPod Repair! It’s been many times that someone groans that their iPod has died when the battery has only just run out. Once you have ascertained the iPod is fully charged, then make sure the Hold button isn’t turned on. Silly, but these things happen!
• Then, either reformat your iPod or update the iTunes software. If your computer doesn’t detect your iPod as you try to do this, make sure that the iPod is the only device connected by the USB port by removing everything else that might be inserted into the other USB ports. If there still isn’t any response, connect the iPod to another USB port or another computer.
2. Your iPod ‘freezes’ on the Apple logo
• There is the iconic Apple icon on your screen and nothing else works regardless of which buttons you press. Set your iPod to the disk mode if this happens. If you have an iPod Touch that doesn’t have a disk mode, press the sleep/wake button and hold it as well as the home button at the same time. Do this for ten seconds or until the Apple logo appears again.
3. There is a “sad” or a “!” icon on the iPod
• Both these icons indicate that data was not able to be recovered by the disk scan. To fix this problem, you need to either charge the battery, reformat the iPod or reset it. Take note that reformatting the iPod will remove all the contents from it. If none of these work, you would to bring it in for iPod servicing or iPod Repair.
If all the steps above fail and you have gone through the help pages on the Apple Support Site, then you have no choice but to send for an iPod Repair.
If your iPod is still covered by warranty, check the Apple iPod Service for further details on how to send the iPod in to the Apple centre. if the warranty has expired, perhaps a third-party iPod repair will be a cheaper alternative.
