There are 2 suggestions to question “If I upgrade to Firmware 3.0 for a 8G iTouch that has been jailbroken, will I lose the jailbreak and data?”

  1. Yes, your iPod will be restored to factory settings and you’ll lose your jailbreak. You can easily re-sync the other content (music, videos, apps) after, and there are fully-functional jailbreaks out for 3.0… It’s not really a big deal. Write down the stuff you want to keep from Cydia, upgrade, jailbreak, sync and then re-download Cydia apps.

Note: If you’ve installed apps with Installous, plug your iPod in and transfer them to iTunes (making sure "iTunes Sync" is enabled in Installous). Then once you upgrade to 3.0, download the http://cydia.hackulo.us package "AppSync for 3.0", which will allow you to transfer them back onto your iPod.

  2. Not true completely shoot to kill.

Download an app in cydia called aptbackup
